Weekly Haftarah Class - The Prophets

Join our weekly online class on the Haftarah (the weekly Shabbat reading from the Prophets), Wednesdays, 12:00-1:00 pm EASTERN time, starting on February 10, and continuing through March 10.

We’ll follow the traditional cycle of the Haftarot, which in the coming weeks includes provocative material around the special Shabbatot around Purim and Passover. Our approach is to combine scholarship and spiritual inquiry. That is, we’ll place the readings in their historical context, dissecting the original meanings of the prophets. But we’ll also pursue their enduring spiritual relevance for our own lives, through the prism of Jewish tradition. No experience necessary, all are welcome!

To receive the weekly Zoom links and subsequent recordings of the sessions, please register below. There is no commitment to attend every class; you’re welcome to participate in as many sessions as you’re able to attend: Register once to receive the weekly link for the entire course:

New Beginnings: How Judaism Understands the Garden of Eden Myths -- A 3-Part Mini-Course

Tuesdays, May 5th, 12th & 19th at 7:30 pm ET

The stories of First Family of Humankind make for some of the most evocative and enduring biblical texts - where, from the perspective of Jewish tradition, nothing is what it seems on the surface. Join us for a fresh look at some of western civilization's most well-known yet misunderstood stories, through the lens of midrash, kabbalah, and classic and modern commentaries.

Even if you can’t make all three sessions, the recordings will be available to those who registered.
