This special summer series will look at the weekly Haftarah portion, the selection from the Prophets of the Hebrew Bible for each Shabbat. Summer is a special time in Jewish life: focused on the central point of the 9th of Av, Jewish thought marks this as a time of spiritual distancing and then return. The voices of the 8th and 6th century prophets provide remarkable illustrations of this—and they also happen to comprise some of the most compelling and poetic passages of the entire Tanakh.
No experience necessary—just an appetite to explore less familiar texts from the Hebrew Bible. All are welcome!
