Part One of this series was so much fun that we’re going to continue with Joseph, Part Two:
Embedded in the Torah is the world’s oldest Jewish novella: the saga of Joseph. Joseph’s story has all the hallmarks of the greatest world literature: it’s the story of a family torn apart and searching for healing; an individual’s search for meaning in a violent world; the conflict between desire and holiness; the impulse for justice and the abuses of power.
And that’s just for starters. In Joseph, we find the first Jew of the Diaspora—a story that has extraordinary resonance for our own spiritual condition today. We’ll read this lengthy story carefully and closely over several weeks, to uncover the lessons that an extraordinary ancient author has for us today.
All are welcome, always—even if you can’t join us for every session, each class will be self-contained.
This series will take place on Wednesdays, 7:00-8:30 pm Eastern time, January 12, 19, and 26.
IF YOU REGISTERED FOR THE FIRST SERIES: No need to do anything; you’re already registered (a confirmation email will come before the next class).
